KCB was hired in February of 2019 to replace one 200-ton Air-Cooled Chiller in Emeryville, CA that was connected to a 4-pipe system. The original AHU was installed in 1999 and reached its useful life. During the 8-week wait to receive the new chiller, the capacity of the old chiller fell out. KCB was able to obtain a rental chiller through Carrier to bridge the gap between the failure and the install of the new chiller. The hotel mechanical systems never missed a beat and hotel guests never knew the system had failed. KCB provided a 
Carrier Air-Cooled Variable Speed Chiller. The new unit was designed with high-efficiency, variable-speed condenser fans and variable-speed screw compressors. The coils were factory dipped in E-Coat to protect them from the marine environment of the San Francisco Bay. When you stand next to this new chiller you must touch it to feel it operating. The lack of noise is incredible, and you must stand next to the unit to believe it. At the conclusion of the project Carrier sent a factory-certified technician to start the unit up and verify operation. KCB verified that proper installation and operation standards were adhered to at the completion of the project.
